A2 Card Topper Autumn Splendor Buttefly

I had so much fun making this fall A2 card topper! I paired the butterfly pattern with fall leaves, then added the “Autumn Splendor” cluster to finish it off. I love butterflies for all seasons, especially fall / autumn.

I created these faux layered look card toppers to help cut down on bulk, weight and postage costs when mailing out cards. Often when we create layered cards they become uneven which requires non-machinable postage which runs .49 more than a 1 oz stamp. If the card goes over 1 oz that is an additional .29 which adds up fast if you mail out multiple cards at a time. It’s important to adhere the correct postage when mailing cards out so the recipient doesn’t end up with “postage due” upon delivery. These faux layered cards can be mailed using a single 1 oz stamp. Card toppers also cut down on the supplies needed which helps keep costs down.

The new tank printers also save a fortune on printer ink. Canon PIXMA G6020 All-in-One Supertank Wireless makes a workhorse printer that keeps going without any maintenance required and it will last for years. I have one that has printed out hundred of thousands of prints and it works as good as the day I bought it. Refill ink bottles for the Canon printer are the least expensive to purchase at big box stores as well as online. I do not recommend buying off brand refills. Epson makes a great EcoTank ET-2900 Wireless All-in-One Color Supertank Printer also but the waste tank fills up fast and you will need to replace the waste tank by taking the back of the printer panel off to replace with a new one, then reset the software in order for your printer to work. There is no other work around as the printer will not print once the alert comes up the tank is full. Ink for the Epson is easy to find at discounted prices due to people purchasing these printers to use for sublimation which requires sublimation ink so they sell the ink that comes with the printer on marketplaces like Ebay, Meacari, Vinted, etc. for half the price it runs in stores and online. Tank printers are well worth the initial investment since the ink lasts most people a year without having to refill.

This download includes 4 card toppers which you can easily cut with scissors or your paper trimmer. It is a faux layered look card which helps keep expenses down when mailing out cards. Cut out a mat measuring 4″ wide by 5 1/4″ height to place this topper on, then place on a blank A2 card. You can create the base A2 card by cutting a piece of cardstock that measures 8.5″ x 11″ in half which makes 2 card bases.

How to Print Your A2 Card Toppers

For the best results, download the PDF to your computer and open it with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. Avoid printing directly from your internet browser, as browser print settings may resize the page.

1. Load 8.5 × 11-inch Canon Matte Photo Paper or bright-white cardstock into your printer. If your printer has a rear paper tray, use it for thicker paper.
2. In Adobe Acrobat Reader, select Print or press Ctrl + P.
3. Choose your printer and confirm that the paper size is set to Letter—8.5 × 11 inches.
4. Under Page Sizing & Handling, select Actual Size. Make sure the scale shows 100%. Do not select “Fit” or “Shrink Oversized Pages,” because these settings can change the finished size of the cards. Adobe confirms that “Actual Size” prints the PDF without scaling. Adobe printing guidance
5. Select Portrait orientation and print one-sided.
6. Open Printer Properties, Preferences, or Print Settings to choose the correct paper option:
   • For Canon Matte Photo Paper, select Matte Photo Paper as the media type and choose High or Best print quality.
   • For bright-white cardstock, choose Cardstock, Heavy Paper, or the closest compatible setting offered by your printer. If none is available, use the setting recommended for your cardstock’s weight.
7. Make sure Borderless Printing is turned off. The printable includes its own white margins and cutting space.
8. Check the print-preview window to make sure the entire page is visible and nothing is being cropped.
9. Print one test page before printing additional copies.

Allow the ink to dry completely before cutting, especially when using matte photo paper. For clean edges, trim the cards with a paper trimmer or a sharp craft knife and ruler.

Helpful tip: Print on matte photo paper for rich colors and crisp decorative details. Choose bright-white cardstock when you want sturdier cards for bookmarks, journal pockets, happy mail, flat mail, gift tags, or Blind Date With a Book projects.
