If you prefer to create a more primitive looking pillow you can cut this design out on to freezer paper, then iron the freezer paper on to your fabric creating a stencil. Dry brush your favorite chalk paint on the stencil and allow to dry before pulling up the freezer paper. This design is 300 DPI so you can resize it to create any size pillow you desire.

My grandma taught me how to make pillows when I was 8 years old. Since she was a seamstress she had a large supply of silk and velvet fabrics that she had plenty of scraps of laying around. I would have given my eye teeth to work with quilting cotton, muslin, or even denim for my very first sewing project. She must have figured if I could master the slippery fabrics I’d have it made in the shade when it came to the rest.

My grandma grew up during the great depression and she didn’t waste anything. She had boxes full of worn out pantyhose (freshly laundered of course) that she liked to use to stuff pillows she made for around the house. For her paying customers who ordered pillows to match the upholstery used when grandpa reupholstered their furniture she had old wooden whiskey barrels filled with goose down and feathers. Talk about fluffy pillows! My grandparents would barter their skills for supplies from friends, neighbors, and members of their church congregation.

These pillows remind me of the old fashioned down filled bed pillows that grandma used to make. I think of her every time I get my sewing machine out and treasure all those memories of her teaching me how to sew.

The latest trend in using HTV is applying glitter vinyl on to plush animals. This can be done with a heat press or using a hot iron at home. When using an iron you need to apply a great deal of pressure to get the vinyl to adhere properly.

DIY Print & Cut – Country Teddy Bear Gift Box

My love for teddy bears has never dwindled over the decades. I wanted to create a cute little party favor – gift box with this teddy bear design by Trina Walker Clark. Each gift box measures 4 1/2″H x 2″W x 2″D. You will love how easy this is to cut out and assemble. Cut the box out by hand with scissors and score on the grey fold lines. There is only one tab which requires tape. I used double sided craft tape that I purchased from China off of Ebay for .79 with free shipping. You can also purchase it at your local craft store. I go through so much that it’s cheaper to order mine from Ebay. The bottom is designed so that the tabs fold over and no tape is required! Once you place your item inside you can tape the top closed or use a hole punch and secure it with ribbon or twine.

This design was created with commercial licensed artwork by:

You will notice the PDF shows as pink but it prints out more in a shade of red like the preview images.

Materials Required:

  • White Card Stock Paper (80 lb. – 110 lb. weight) I used basic white card stock purchased from my local big box store that is 110 lb weight and runs about $5.47 for a ream of 500 sheets.
  • Home Printer
  • Scissors
  • Double Sided Craft Tape
  • Twine or Ribbon
  • Hole Punch

Step One:
Download Printable PDF Here: TeddyBearMilkCarton

Step Two:
Print PDF in landscape mode with “actual size” selected

Step Three:
Cut the outside of the box out from the printed card stock.

Step Four:
Score on the grey lines printed on the design of the teddy bear milk carton.

Step Five:
Fold the carton on the score lines and place double sided tape on the tab where it says “place tape here”
Carefully align your box sides before pressing down on the tape to seal. Fold over the bottom tabs to close the bottom of the carton.

Step Six:
Pinch the top of the carton together and use your hole punch to add 2 holes to run your ribbon or twine through.

Step Seven:
Place your item/s inside the box and then close the top securing it with ribbon or twine.

Multiple Uses For DIY Milk Cartons:

  • Thank You Gifts
  • Party Favors
  • Product Packaging
  • Free Samples
  • Home Baked Snacks

The pkg. size is ideal for filling with small items that don’t look like much on their own but really stand out when displayed in this adorable gift box. If you are hosting a party you always want to thank your guests for sharing their time with you and it’s an added bonus when you can make your own gifts that won’t put a dent in your budget.

Tip: You can make these up in advance (when you have spare time or when the kiddies are fast asleep) and even seal the top of the cartons! Just unfold the tabs on the bottom of the carton, slip your item/s inside and re-fold the bottom tabs.

Cupcake Mockup by Holy Mint Studios

Anyone raised on a farm or near one will have a soft spot in their hearts for these cows. I miss watching them graze and listening to them mooing. Growing up we take for granted all the beautiful sights and sounds that surround us, then when we grow up and move away we cherish those memories. This is my favorite set of toppers and anyone who loves cows will be tickled pink to have these on their birthday cupcakes.

DIY Print and Cut Welcome To Our Fire Pit Starters

DIY Print & Cut Welcome To Our Fire Pit Starters

This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

Stock up by making a dozen for starting quick campfires all summer long.

I look forward to spending time outdoors sitting by the fire with my friends and family. Sometimes we gather around the fire pit out on the deck and other times we build a campfire down by the lake. What I don’t enjoy is the hassle of getting a fire started. My husband’s favorite way of starting a camp fire is by pouring a whole bottle of charcoal lighter fluid on the wood pile. Everyone has to stand back for about a half hour while the flames die down.

I prefer starting a fire with what I call tame flames which usually consists of me rolling newspaper logs and spending a lot of time nurturing the flames to ignite the kindling. I confess we haven’t had a newspaper subscription for quite some time and the only time I buy them anymore is during garage sale season for their listings. Hence, I have a very low supply of newspapers on hand anymore.

During the winter months we usually have a stock of fatwood on hand to start fires in the fireplace but it can be next to impossible to find it in the stores around here when we run out. You’d think the stores would keep it in stock during the winter months, but alas every single year they don’t keep fatwood stocked on the shelves. I’ve tried ordering it online but it’s a hit and miss. Especially price-wise. This shortage led me to do an online search on how to make my own fire starters. Who knew there were so many ways to start a fire?

My favorite method was to dip cotton balls in paraffin wax, wrap them in waxed paper, and light the paper. This method is ideal for creating a 10 minute burn time fire starter which should be enough time to start any fire, even with green wood. I did a test fire and it was a success! Yes, I did a little happy dance because I was so excited. It doesn’t take much to amuse me these days, does it? The best part was I had all the supplies on hand and didn’t need to make a mad dash to the store. For my first batch I cheated and used a paraffin candle I’ve had for decades (we all have those stashed around the house for power outages). I’m not sure what I was thinking, but I used a pair of tweezers to dip the cotton balls in the melted wax. It was entertaining if nothing else when the wax built up on the tweezers and the cotton balls got stuck in them. I ditched the tweezers and switched to wearing a pair of food gloves I use in the kitchen for cooking. Success! One final step was left for me to have the perfect fire starter and that was to slip a candle wick inside so I could light it safely. Wax paper flames up and burns fast so I wanted something that would give me time to get my hands back before it flames up.

All the hard work was done and I had a nice pile of fire starters but there was one BIG problem. I couldn’t get over the fact that I had made what looked like a huge pile of homemade tampons! Eek! It’s all good until I’m entertaining company and have them laying out on the deck to start the fire pit with. I decided to create a package to conceal them in. That is when I came up with this amazing “Welcome To Our Fire Pit” printable package. I wish I’d had a couple dozen of these on hand back when I went camping!

Step One – Creating Package:

  • Download Printable PDF
  • Cut out with scissors
  • Score grey lines (folding lines)
  • Put double sided craft tape on left tab
  • Fold sides and seal
  • Fold over bottom tabs to close package

Step Two – How To Make Fire Pit Starters

  • Melt paraffin wax or your preferred wax in a glass jar that is heat proof (won’t break when hot)
  • Place a strip of parchment paper on a cookie sheet
  • Dip cotton balls in to melted wax and place on parchment paper to cool
  • Once cotton balls are cooled wrap 3 in waxed paper like a tootsie roll.
  • Cut candle wicks into 3 inch strips and dip the end into the melted wax, then insert into your roll of cotton balls leaving about 2 1/2″ sticking out from the roll.

If you plan to go camping this summer be sure to make a dozen or so to pack in your camper. Take the hassle out of starting fires in your fire pit this summer. Light the wick, sit back and grab a cold drink and enjoy the fire! It just doesn’t get any easier than that.

Love is in the air with Valentine’s Day just around the corner. I wanted to create a design that would work on multiple project surfaces.

  • t-shirts
  • night shirts
  • vases
  • mugs
  • pillows
  • wood signs

Valentine's Day SVG

I am a plus sized woman and make a lot of my own t-shirts since I’m not apt to find designs that I like in my size while shopping in the stores. You can resize the SVG or DXF design in your home cutting machine software to create a larger design for plus size shirts. Just remember to “group” your design when enlarging it so all layers are resized at the same time to retain the original design.

Wedding SVG DXF Files

Over the years I’ve accumulated a nice stash of wooden crates and boxes from garage sales and flea markets. These make the perfect blanks for vinyl stencil designs. Time permitting I plan to create a stencil and add it to a smaller wood box that holds mason jar vases. This will look absolutely priceless with red roses in the jars.

XOXO Hugs & Kisses Coffee Mug

My husband’s love for coffee is off the charts, so I plan to create a mug with this design on it along with a pan of brownies for Valentine’s Day. He has a habit of taking off with all my mugs and they rarely make it back home so I am constantly replenishing my supply. I’m sure his office at work is well stocked. Since this one is romantic it might just have a chance of staying here at the house. I wouldn’t bet my last dollar on it though!

I used LD© Glossy Inkjet Photo Sticker Paper (8.5 X 11) 100 pack which I picked up for $18.95 on Amazon with free shipping. LD sticker paper works best when using a laser printer. Inkjet printers do not have much success with image quality. Some users recommend using photo paper settings to remedy the ink jet issues. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the print and cut file with settings:

  • Blade (on machine) set to “0”
  • Blade (in software) set to “1”
  • Speed set to “3”
  • Depth set to “1”

Always do a test cut with your cut settings before cutting your print and cut project to verify the cutting depth does not go through the back of the sticker sheet. You just want the top layer to cut, not the backing paper. I had just installed a brand new blade before working on this project. As the blade dulls I will need to adjust my depth settings accordingly. Reminder: If you want to put the labels on the front and back of the dividers you’ll need to print and cut 2 sets of each.

If you plan on using these labels for Mom2Mom Kids Resale Events or Growing Kids ReSale events I would recommend using a glossy sticker paper. You’ll be able to reuse these dividers for years to come as your children outgrow their clothing and it’s one last item you’ll need check off your “to do” list.

Retro Christmas Gift Tags – Companion For Buffalo Plaid Wrapping Paper

This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

I like to create new gift labels each holiday to decorate my Christmas gifts. I wanted to try out the buffalo plaid wrapping paper that is all the craze this year. I love the “country cabin” look it has going for it.  When it came to creating labels I needed something that wouldn’t get lost in the wrapping paper design. There’s nothing worse than handing out gifts and not being able to quickly read the gift tag to know who it goes to!

This design was created with a retro red background with bold white text which compliments your holiday wrapping paper. The printable PDF sheet has tags in 2 sizes. The small labels measure approximately 2.5″H x 1.5″W and the large labels measure approximately 3″H x 1.75″W There are 12 gift tag labels per sheet. Print these off on to 8.5″ x 11″  sticker paper or card stock paper.
